The Speaking For Profit Podcast | A show for professional speakers, entrepreneurs & business professionals who speak or sell.

Welcome to the Speaking for Profit Podcast with Jason Reid and Cindy Ashton.

Jun 3, 2016

In this episode, Cindy and Jason talk about how to evaluate someone’s expertise, and also interview speaker and presentation expert Halina St. James.

They talk about about the difference between speaking and writing, as well as the importance of knowing your strengths as a speaker. Halina also tells some great stories about her first time speaking and her “comeback” after losing her power of speech to a stroke.

Somewhere between crashing in an airplane and being shot at in a revolution, TV journalist Halina St. James had one of those ‘ah-ha’ moments.

The ‘ah-ha’ moment was the realization that the way she coached broadcasters would work for anyone who wanted to be a better speaker or presenter.

She turned her idea into a technique. She called that technique Talk-it-Out, and has been successfully teaching it to audiences all over the world.

As a journalis,t Halina had been shot at in the Romanian Revolution. But a bigger threat came in 2012. Halina had a stroke. She lost the power of speech. Halina worked hard to get her voice back… singing her ABCs and re-learning how to write. Now the story of recovering from the stroke is part of Halina’s keynotes, along with her story of surviving a plane crash.
